Promotion Codes is an add on. More information can be found on the Straightsell website.

Once enabled, promotion codes can be configured from Ecommerce > Promotions in the CMS.

Creating Promotion Codes

  • You should create some test promotion codes of your own to work out how the functionality can work for you

Title: The title of your Promotion Code.

Description: The description of your Promotion Code.

Discount Type: There are five types of Promotion Codes, and they can be configured as follows:

  • Dollar amount off total order: Enter a whole number value to apply a dollar amount off of an order. 
  • Dollar amount off category or product: Enter a whole number value to apply a dollar amount off of a specific category or product.
  • Percentage off total order excluding freight: Enter a whole number value to apply to a total order excluding its freight component.
  • Percentage off category or product excluding freight: Enter a value to apply a percentage off a specific category or product.
  • Set Price (ex tax) for a list of products: Enter a list of Items and their specific prices.

Discount Value: The value of the discount should be entered as a whole number. This will represent either a dollar amount or percentage.

Applicable to order totals greater than: The minimum dollar value required to be in the shopping cart for a Promotion Code to be activated.

Start Date: The start date of the Promotion Code. Note this is based on Adelaide, South Australian time (+9:30) which you may need to adjust for if you are in another state.

End Date: The end date of the Promotion Code.

Number of Codes Redeemed: The number of times a Promotion Code has been activated by customers.

Status

Active: Check to activate the Promotion Code, uncheck to deactivate it.

Multiple Use Per Code: This should be checked when manually defining your Promotion Code name to allow multiple uses.

Promotion Codes Initial Generation

Promotion Generate Method: There are two ways to generate Promotion Codes, automatically and manually.

  • Automatically generate codes: Enter a value for the number of Promotion Codes you wish to generate
          
  • Manually specify codes: Enter the value of the name of the Promotion Code you wish to create e.g. ‘SPRINGCLEANING’. This method is often used with ‘Multiple Use Per Code’.

Number of Codes to Generate: Specify how many Promotion Codes you wish to automatically generate if choosing the ‘Automatically generate codes’ method.

Promotion Codes: The list of generated Promotion Codes if using the ‘Automatically generate codes’ method.

Automatic Promotion Code Issuing

Automatically issue to successful orders: Check to automatically issue Promotion Codes to customers based on the value entered below.

  • The Promotion Code will appear on the order confirmation email a buyer will receive and they can then use it on their next order

Issue to orders over: Enter the minimum value of the order that will automatically receive the Promotion Code in whole numbers. e.g. 5 will be 5 dollars.
