Creating promotion codes

Once enabled, promotion codes can be configured from Ecommerce > Promotions in the CMS and there will be a number of different promotion types you can configure.

Once configuration is complete, click Save at the bottom of the page.

• Title: The title of your promotion code (this is for your internal reference only)
• Description: The description of your promotion code (this is for your internal reference only)

Selecting the discount type

There are five types of promotion code that can be configured.

Dollar amount off total order

• Dollar amount off total order: this will apply a dollar amount discount to the total order excluding freight
• Discount value: the dollar amount value for the discount
• Applicable to order totals greater than: enter a dollar amount here if you only want the promotion code to be valid on orders over a certain amount, otherwise set to 0

Dollar amount off category or product

OR

• Dollar amount off category or product: this will apply a dollar amount discount off of one specific category or one specific product.
• Discount value: the dollar amount value for the discount
• Applicable to order totals greater than: enter a dollar amount here if you only want the promotion code to be valid on orders over a certain amount, otherwise set to 0
• Applicable Type: Set to "Product" or "Category"
• Category: Select the category path you want the promotion code to apply to OR
• Product Code: Click "Search" and then select the product code you want the promotion code to apply to

Percentage off total order

• Percentage off total order excluding freight: this will apply a percentage discount to the total order excluding freight
• Discount value: the percentage value for the discount
• Applicable to order totals greater than: enter a dollar amount here if you only want the promotion code to be valid on orders over a certain amount, otherwise set to 0

Percentage off category or product

OR

• Percentage off category or product excluding freight: this will apply a percentage discount off of one specific category or one specific product.
• Discount value: the percentage value for the discount
• Applicable to order totals greater than: enter a dollar amount here if you only want the promotion code to be valid on orders over a certain amount, otherwise set to 0
• Applicable Type: Set to "Product" or "Category"
• Category: Select the category path you want the promotion code to apply to OR
• Product Code: Click "Search" and then select the product code you want the promotion code to apply to

Set price for a list of products

• Set Price (ex tax) for a list of products: this will allow you to define a set price for a list of products
• Pricing for Product Codes: type the product code and prices as follows, each product code and price is listed on a separate line - PRODUCTCODE,PRICE

Activating your promotion

you can set a start date and end date for your promotion.

• Start Date: The start date of the Promotion Code. Note this is based on Adelaide, South Australian time (+9:30) which you may need to adjust for if you are in another state.
• End Date: The end date of the Promotion Code.
• Number of Codes Redeemed: Will display the number of times the code has been used (note: this will not display for "Set Price" promotion type)
• Active: Check on to activate the promotion code for the specified date range, if this is checked off the promotion code will be inactive

Configuring how the promotion code is used

One code to use multiple times

To generate one code that can be used multiple times follow the instructions below:

• Multiple Use Per Code: Check this ON
• Promotion Generate Method: Set this to Manually specify codes
• Promotion Codes: enter the promotion code here, this is the code customers will use during checkout

A number of codes that can be used once

To generate a number of codes that can only be used once each, follow the instructions below:

• Multiple Use Per Code: Check this OFF
• Promotion Generate Method: Set this to Automatically generate codes
  
• Number of Codes to Generate: enter the number of promotion codes you would like to generate, when the setup is complete this number of unique, one time use only codes will be generated and these can be provided to customers

Automatic issuing of promotion codes (optional)

You can optionally set the promotion code to be issued automatically to all successful orders over a given amount, regardless of the generation method above these codes will all be unique, one time use only codes

• Automatically issue to successful orders: check on to enable automatic issuing of promotion codes
• Issue to orders over: set a dollar amount threshold, order values under that threshold will not be issued promotion codes
