Location Restrictions

Restricts freight to a particular location.

When the customer enters their order delivery details this will define which freight option(s) they can potentially choose.

  • State (The format for the State field is SA; for multiple states its SA;VIC;)

  • Postcode (Only for Australian or New Zealand. The format for the postcode field is 3050; for a rang of postcodes its 3050-3999; or you can do multiple ranges or singles 3050-3999;4201;2147;5000-5900;)

  • Country (The format for Country is the Country short name AU; or for multiple Countries its AU;NZ;CA)

  • None (all)

Standard Cost

Using the “Use Flat Rate“ Tickbox, Uses a static cost of freight for the shopping cart / order.

It will only become available if the order meets the Break Type and location restrictions, where applicable.

Unit Type

When you are not using a Flat Rate, There are 4 different ways of calculating incremental costs. This is done using the Unit Type field to set the increments and the Break Type field to set the Ranges that the freight will apply at. Unit Type will only work with Break Type.

  • Unit Type Value - The total cost of the shopping cart x Freight Type Value.

    • e.g. If the Cart is $20 and the Freight Type Value is set to 2 then the freight will be $40 ex gst.

  • Product Count - The total number of products purchased in the shopping cart.

    • e.g. if the Standard freight is set to 10 and the Freight Type Value is set to 2 then the freight will start at $10 ex gst and go up by $2 ex gst for every item added, So 4 items in the cart would be 18$ ex gst Freight.

  • Volume Count - The total weight of the shopping cart.

    • e.g. between 0 and 2kg parcel might cost $5 and between 2 and 5kg may cost $10.

  • Freight Count - Uses a custom field called Freight Charge on each item to determine the freight x Freight Type Value.

    • e.g. having 2 items in your cart. 1 with 200 in Freight Charge and one with 50 in Freight Charge will make the freight charge total 250, and if the freight type value is set to 2 then the Freight would be $500 ex gst.

Break Type

You can use the Break Type to Change the Break Lower Limit and Break Upper Limit to set the Ranges that the freight rule will show at checkout. Does not require a Unit Type to function.

  • Unit Type Value - The total cost of the shopping cart.

    • e.g. Shows between $0 (Break Lower Limit) and $500 (Break Upper Limit) and have another rule between $501 and $1000.

  • Product Count - The total number of products purchased in the shopping cart.

    • e.g. Shows between 1-5 products and have another rule between 6-10 products.

  • Volume Count - The total weight of the shopping cart.

    • e.g. Shows between 0 and 2kg parcel and have another rule between 2 and 5kg.

  • Freight Count - Uses a custom field called Freight Charge on each item to determine the freight.

    • e.g. having 2 items in your cart. 1 with 200 in Freight Charge and one with 50 in Freight Charge will make the freight total 250, so if you set the Break Lower Limit to 100 and a Break Upper Limit to 300 then only Carts that have a total Freight Charge will have access to the freight rule.

Price on Application

You have the option to use the above features to display POA (Price on Application) or Free Freight. This is done by setting the Amount $ to a negative number.

The above restrictions can still apply:

  • Example of POA

    • e.g. between $0 and $500 freight cost is $20 and between $501 and $1000 freight cost $25, but orders over $1001 is $POA.

Multiple Freight Options

Using the above concepts if more than one freight option applies to an order then these will be displayed as a choice in the checkout process for the buyer.

You could create two freight options with the same conditions and different prices an example of this would be:

  • Standard Post $5 and Express Post $10
