You can upload files to your website via the Upload feature in Documents & Images.

The website will expect files to be named and sized a particular way depending on the type of file you are uploading, which is covered in the relevant sections below.

Identifying Images on your Website

If you want to identify where the image you wish to replace is:

  • In Mozilla Firefox, Right click on an image and select View Image Info.
  • Information on the image will be shown, including the path to the file in Documents & Images, the size and the dimensions of the image.
  • If View Image Info is not available, select View Background Image to show the image then right click the image and select View Image Info.

How to Upload Documents & Images

To upload the image, log in to the Straightsell Control Panel and navigate to:

  • Content Management > Documents & Images
  • Select the Upload tab
  • Choose the specified folder
  • Click Browse and select your file
  • To upload multiple files at once select all the files then right click and select Send to – Compressed (zipped) folder
    • After selecting the .zip file that is created the Unzip checkbox will check on automatically

  • Click Upload File

Image and Document Types

Product Images and Thumbnails

Product Images and Thumbnails are the images you'll upload most on your Straightsell website. A Product image file name must match the Product Code in the accounting system. You can have more than one image per product, with additional images are appended with an underscore and a number.
In this case, AB400.jpg, AB400_1.jpg and AB400_2.jpg have been uploaded and display as the primary, second and third image respectively.

When you select the /productimages folder in the Upload tab of Documents & Images, the Create Thumbnails option is checked to create a thumbnail automatically, viewable when browsing product categories.

You may wish to offer them as supplementary or replacements for your Product Descriptions. Other use cases could be that you have assembly instructions or safety information for dangerous products.

Sideshow images are displayed on the home page of your website and come in two sizes depending on your Straightsell Website configuration. These are easily replaceable and can link to pages on your website or simply display as an image.

A regular Slideshow image uploaded into /documents/slideshow

A Full width slideshow image uploaded into /documents/slideshow_fullwidth

Uploading Slideshow images is a two-step process. The first step requires modifying a text file named SlideshowLinks.txt which controls how many images will be displayed.

  • Go to Documents & Images – Simple Search.
  • Select /documents/slideshow or /documents/slideshow_fullwidth and click List All Files.
  • Locate SlideshowLinks.txt and click Download.
  • Open the file.

The first line in SlideshowLinks.txt must be slideURL. Each subsequent line should have a hash (#) character to display an image, or a link to a page your website.
In the below example, the first Slideshow image (slideshow_1.jpg) will link to a page on the website, specifically http://standarddesign.straightsell.com.au/Living-Room/Lounge-Suites/pl.php.
The second (slideshow_2.jpg) and third (slideshow_3.jpg) images will display but not link anywhere as they have hashes, not a link.

  • Upload the modified SlideshowLinks.txt file into /documents/slideshow.

The second step is uploading your new Slideshow images to replace your existing images.

  • Upload your new Slideshow images following the naming convention outlined below.
  • Close and reopen your browser or refresh your cache to see if the changes are reflected.

Note: You can obtain the URL path from your website by copying everything after the .com/ or .com.au/ in the address bar when you visit the page you want to link to.
