  • In CatalogueLINK Download go to Setup – Automation Settings. 'Automation Options' is where you configure what and when imports and uploads of data will occur automatically.

  • Check the 'Automate' checkbox beside each data type you wish to automate.
  • Check the 'Day of the week' checkboxes for each day that you wish the schedule to run.
  • Select a frequency of when imports and uploads will occur in the 'Frequency (Hours)', 'Start Time' and 'End Time' dropdowns.
  • Click 'OK'.

Next we need to set up a Scheduled Task to run the settings in 'Automation Options' on a schedule. The following instructions are specific to Windows 7 but all modern versions of Windows can enable Scheduled Tasks.

  • Go to 'Control Panel' - 'Administrative Tools' before selecting 'Task Scheduler'.
  • Select 'Create Task' from the 'Actions' pane.
  • Select the 'General' tab
  • Enter a name for the task
  • Select a user to run the task

  • Select 'Run only when user is logged on'. If you do not select this option, automation will not run.

Note: You may be required to enter the password for the selected user account.

  • Select 'Triggers' and then 'New'.
  • Configure the task to run at an interval that is sooner than the one you set up in 'Automation Options' and set 'for a duration of' to 'indefinitely'.
  • Check the 'Enabled' checkbox before clicking 'OK'.

  • Select the 'Actions' tab and then 'New'.
  • Set 'Action' to 'Start a program'.
  • Browse for UploadAuto.exe in the CatalogueLINK directory.

  • Select the 'Settings' tab

  • Set 'if the task fails, restart every' to '30 minutes'.
  • Click 'OK'.

Note: Automation can only run when a user is logged in, so lock your local or remote connection to the workstation to ensure it runs correctly. Do not log off or shut down.

  • In the 'Scheduled Tasks' window right click on the task and select 'Run'

Troubleshooting

  • If automation for either CatalogueLINK application is not running, check that the Scheduled Task is enabled.
  • Open the *_AUTO_PROCESSLOG.txt files in CatalogueLINK's log directory and review the bottom of the file to see what CatalogueLINK is reporting.
  • If you see "Automation could not run because CatalogueLINK (GUI mode) was already running" it is because CatalogueLINK is already open and must be closed.
