Migrating CatalogueLINK
This page will instruct you on how to migrate CatalogueLINK from one workstation to another, should you ever need to do so.
Pre-Installation
1) Ensure that the new Windows workstation meets the minimum requirements for CatalogueLINK and that all accounting system prerequisites have been identified and met
2) Create or login as a user account on the new workstation with administrator privileges so that the user will be able to install the software successfully
- This account will be logged in at all times if automation is required
- Therefore it should be added to the remote desktop users group to be accesses remotely by staff and Straightsell support
3) Disable automation for CatalogueLINK Upload (disable the Windows Scheduled Task) on the current workstation
4) Disable automation for CatalogueLINK Download (close the program and disable the Windows Scheduled Task if applicable) on the current workstation
5) Make a backup of the CatalogueLINK folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\SEL\ by default) from the existing workstation available to the user on the new workstation
- Once the copy has been created DO NOT use CatalogueLINK until migration to the new workstation is complete
6) Export the CatalogueLINK Upload and Download Windows Scheduled Tasks and make available to the new workstation
Installation and Migration
7) On the new workstation download the CatalogueLINK setup file provided to you by Straightsell
- Follow the instructions on how to install CatalogueLINK
- Once complete, delete the shortcuts created on the desktop for CatalogueLINK Upload & Download
8) Navigate to the parent installation folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\SEL\ by default) and rename the folder CatalogueLINK to CatalogueLINK-CleanInstall
- Copy the backup of the CatalogueLINK folder (created in Step 5) to the parent installation folder. You should now have two folders in this directory:
- CatalogueLINK: The CatalogueLINK folder that was migrated from the previous workstation
- CatalogueLINK-CleanInstall: The newly installed CatalogueLINK folder renamed earlier in this step
9) IMPORTANT: Set the user to have full control and be the owner of the C:\Program Files (x86)\SEL\ folder and that inheritance applies down to all sub folders and files
- Follow the steps under Apply Permissions on this page
- Failure to do so may cause Windows to use Virtual Store with the database and result in data loss
10) Open CatalogueLINK Upload (Upload.exe) and Download (Download.exe) and ensure that the links to the accounting system and website are functional
- You may need to go into the Setup menu and select your Accounting System settings and make sure the connection settings are valid (if they have changed since the previous installation)
11) If you were running CatalogueLINK Upload and Download in Automation, re-import the Windows Scheduled Tasks or set them up again
- When complete, create shortcuts for Upload.exe and Download.exe on the desktop
