301 Redirects Addon
This add-on will enable you to direct users and search engines from one page to another while retaining the ranking of the old page. This is convenient if:
You removed a page and you want to send users to a new page.
You've moved your site to a new domain, and you want to make the transition as seamless as possible.
You're merging two websites and want to make sure that links to outdated URLs are redirected to the correct pages.
You cannot redirect an existing page to another existing page. Redirects will only work if the first page no longer exists due to one of the above reasons.
This is achieved via the addition of a convenient form in the Straightsell CMS that specifically utilises the following controls:
Redirect from: Add the URL path you wish to redirect from
Redirected to: Add the URL path you wish to redirect to
In the below example; old category 1 & 2 have been deleted from the website and will be currently showing a 404: Page Not Found if accessed.
After this 301 redirect is saved, old category 1 & 2 will immediately redirect a customer to 'NEWcategory1/NEWcategory2/pl.php' if accessed.
This addon is built to only work within your domain, hence why the ‘https://www.domainname.com.au’ is not required in this form.
We can adjust this functionality to include external domains for a development fee.
Redirecting Filtered Pages
In the event that a 404 Error is occurring on a page where the URL contains a filter suffix such as:
?filters=
filter=brand:
pager=1
resetbrand=1
Please create a 301 Redirect for the canonical of that page, which is the URL path before the filter suffix.
For example:
category1/category2/pl.php?filters=
the canonical is:
category1/category2/pl.php
